Sleep Mode at Work

It is Monday and for almost the whole day, it was raining. However, in the afternoon, there was heavy downpour and immediately the lights went out. For almost 4 hours, there was no electricity in the office.

What was I to do ion such a situation?

Well, most body started its sleep mode. The cool breeze was enough to entice me to sleep and the absence of electricity makes me want to go home and lie down in bed. The problem was that it was still one in the afternoon but may body was already in sleep mode. It was quite embarrassing to take naps in the middle of briefing and meetings when you superior is in front on you. It happened for most of the afternoon. I thought that maybe the loss of electricity would lessen the workload but my superior was still in his usual busy self going to other offices that were partially illuminated compared to our office. It was almost pitch black in our office because we have no windows.

Often work, I immediately went home and slept. Awoken only in time for dinner.

This weather is usually bad but if this happens on weekends, I would have loved to slept through it.

Heavy Rains

It was a deluge today staring early morning and ending late in the afternoon. The strong rains caused heavy flooding in some parts of town. Our home was almost flooded because we live near a river. The river started to overflow and reached the streets and vehicles began to divert to other paths because the bridge and road are no longer visible due to knee deep waters with trees and coconuts flowing from the mountains.

At the office, there were fears for the status of their houses with people wondering about their leaky roofs or the rising rivers. Because of this, little work was done in the office. There were also several reports of damaged homes. We feared the worst when we received reports that this might last for days because of the tail-end of a typhoon, however, everyone sighed in relief when the rains stopped late this afternoon.

I just hope that nobody was hurt after kind of emergency.

It Was a Dark & Cold Night...

If I had to make an introduction to describe tonight, that would be it. It has been constantly raining since this afternoon and until this very moment. Since I was a child, I find cold night depressing especially when you're alone. It is also oftentimes projected in movies, rain usually comes after a sad announcement like death or break-up. It's usually better better for me to spend cold nights with your loved ones. Cold & rainy nights like this usually keeps members of the family at home. Rain acts like a deterrence to some people because they can't enjoy the night life that much if it's cold outside.

However, I love the rain when it comes while the sun is shining. Since I was a kid, we called that phenomenon as "the feast of the heavens". A simple yet magical description of such an event. It doesn't happen that much and maybe it's a blessing when it happens
