24 Things to Always Remember

Your presence is a present to the world.

You are unique and one of a kind.

Your life can be what you want it to be.

Take the days just one at a time.

Count your blessings, not your troubles.

You will make it through whatever comes along.

Within you are so many answers.

Understand, have courage, be strong.

Do not put limits on yourself.

So many dreams are waiting to be realized.

Decisions are too important to leave to chance.

Reach for your peak, your goal and you prize.

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying.

The longer one carries a problem the heavier it gets.

Do not take things too seriously.

Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way.

Remember that a lot … goes forever.

Remember that friendship is a wise investment.

Life’s treasures are people together.

Realize that it is never too late.

Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.

Have hearth and hope and happiness.

Take the time to wish upon a star.

AND DO NOT EVER FORGET… FOR EVEN A DAY HOW VERY SPECIAL YOU ARE!

How Would I?

I'm in love with a woman that's different from me. Different traits, different values, different likes & dislikes. But does that matter at all. Being me, I will always consider all angles. Some aspects would matter while some don't. Well, the heart must follow what it wants and maybe the mind will understand tomorrow. i don't know how this will end because it hasn't started yet. I have to let her know whatever her reaction would be.

Would I only use the window of opportunity that she'll give me to tell her or would I make my own opportunity?

It's tough for me because I am at a loss on how it should be done. Is there a proper way? Would I just wait for her to show me signs that she's already ready? It's already months since I tried to ask her out but there is no clear reply.

Where should I tell her? The problem with is that I can tell that to her anywhere she is. There's no problem for me. But is there a proper venue for it.

It's hard to court someone you're not familiar with even if you're known them for a very long time.

Well, I have to find out how and very soon.

Waiting is the hardest part.

Finished with " Benjamin Button"

I have just finished watching the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". It was a wonderful movie. I now understand why it was nominated for a "Best Motion Picture" award at the recently concluded Oscar awards. The movie is told in a narrative by the protagonist Benjamin Button.

This is the type of movie that I like watching. It's thorough in telling the story just like some of my favorite movies, "Out of Africa" and "The English Patient". It's a movie full of inspirational messages that talks about life in general.

Some of readers of this blogger have inquired if what i think of this movie. I have to say that it is wonderfully made with great casts but not recommended for everyone. I say that it's not for everyone because it is quite a long movie with a sad undertone. This is not a feel-good movie even though it has many moral lessons" scattered throughout the movie. This movie is sort of a tragedy were both the protagonists die in the end but in a different way. One die of old age while the other one died the opposite way, just as he was before he was born. But for people who wanted to watch a movie with great storytelling, this one is a must-see.

Here are some wonderful lines from the movie:

  • Your life is defined by its opportunities... even the ones you miss.
  • For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
  • You can be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You could swear, curse the fates, but when it comes to the end, you have to let go.
  • It's a funny thing about comin' home. Looks the same, smells the same, feels the same. You'll realize what's changed is you.

Nothing is Random

Nothing is random, nor will anything ever be, whether a long string of perfectly blue days that begin and end in golden dimness, the most seemingly chaotic political acts, the rise of a great city, the crystalline structure of a gem that has never seen the light, the distributions of fortune, what time the milkman gets up, the position of the electron, or the occurrence of one astonishingly frigid winter after another.

Even electrons, supposedly the paragons of unpredictability, are tame and obsequious little creatures that rush around at the speed of light, going precisely where they are supposed to go. They make faint whistling sounds that when apprehended in varying combinations are as pleasant as the wind flying through a forest, and they do exactly as they are told. Of this, one can be certain.

And yet there is a wonderful anarchy, in that the milkman chooses when to arise, the rat picks the tunnel into which he will dive when the subway comes rushing down the track from Borough Hall, and the snowflake will fall as it will. How can this be? If nothing is random, and everything is predetermined, how can there be free will? The answer to that is simple.

Nothing is predetermined; it is determined, or was determined, or will be determined. No matter, it all happened at once, in less than an instant, and time was invented because we cannot comprehend in one glance the enormous and detailed canvas that we have been given - so we track it, in linear fashion, piece by piece. Time, however, can be easily overcome; not by chasing light, but by standing back far enough to see it all at once.

The universe is still and complete. Everything that ever was, is; everything that ever will be, is - and so on, in all possible combinations. Though in perceiving it we imagine that it is in motion, and unfinished, it is quite finished and quite astonishingly beautiful.

In the end, or rather, as things really are, any event, no matter how small, is intimately and sensibly tied to all others. All rivers run full to the sea; those who are apart are brought together; the lost ones are redeemed; the dead come back to life; the perfectly blue days that have begun and ended in golden dimness continue, immobile and accessible; and, when all is perceived in such a way as to obviate time, justice becomes apparent not as something that will be, but as something that is.

Curious About the "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"

I just had tonight got a copy of the movie"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". Started watching it tonight but then I realized, when I glanced at the timer, that I runs for almost three hours. I started watching it late so I decided to continue watching it tomorrow.

I first heard of this movie because it was starring two famous Hollywood celebrities but then I was more captivated by the premise of what if a person aged backwards.

Well, I'll have to find out tomorrow how it turns out.

Hug That Monster

One couple spent a holiday driving in the mountains. "Every time you race around one of those narrow curves," exclaimed the wife, "I just get terrified."

"Then do what I do," suggested her husband. "Close your eyes!" We are all afraid at times, but closing our eyes is not always a helpful way through fear. Better to open your eyes and face those fears head-on.

In 1972 David Miln Smith had such an opportunity. Smith, an adventurer, author and professional speaker, decided to spend a night alone in St. Michael's Cave on the island of Gibraltar as a test of courage. In his book HUG THE MONSTER (Kansas City: Andrews and McMeel, 1996), he tells of hearing strange sounds all around him as he lay there in the pitch-black, damp, deserted cave. Most frightening was the fact that he came to believe he was not alone!

Fear became panic and he was afraid he was losing his mind. Then suddenly, as he was approaching his psychological breaking point, Smith thought to himself, "Whatever the monster looks like, I will hug it." That simple, almost silly thought brought great relief to his restless mind. He soon fell into a deep and peaceful sleep until morning. He learned that embracing his fear, literally or figuratively, allowed him to subdue it.

We each have our nights of fear. We each encounter monsters of some sort. We may fear spiders or insects, heights or crowds, abandonment or loneliness, the future or death. And most of us are occasionally visited by shadows of these monsters in the dark of night.

The next time you're afraid, try "hugging the monster." Face that fear head-on, whatever it is, and embrace it. You may be surprised at how quickly it slips away and at how confident you begin to feel. Like that beautiful spirit Eleanor Roosevelt said, "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face."

Do you have a monster to hug?

Return to Reality

Many of us leave home convinced we are going to conquer the world. We are anxious to shuck off the restraints of family and tradition, to cut our own swath and make our own rules. We know we can do it better, make it faster and see it all.

Somewhere along the way we learn we didn't know quite as much as we thought. Our ideas weren't as new as we took them to be. Suddenly the "quaint" homespun wisdom that once we rejected takes on new form. The first trip home after such awakening is a return to reality

Good Friday

This afternoon I attended the Way of the Cross. I've made it a habit to attend it with my family. It has been a tradition for us to attend the activities during the Lenten Season. Before, we used to go to my grandmother's house to spend our Holy Week. We go there to spend some time with our relatives by attending the Lenten activities.

For some, this is the time to go to the beach or go on vacation with their families, but for us, ever since I was born, our family tradition is to participate in the Lenten celebration. This time is offered to the Lord.

I'm Worried

She's sick right now and all I can do is worry from afar. I want to take care of her and help her feel better. This is such anguish for me not to be with her. Modern communication has made it easy for me contact her but it lacks the personal touch that can't be substituted by any gadget or invention. I'm just hoping that one of this days I can visit you and have a pleasant conversation.

For now, all I hope is that you get better right away.

It's A Holiday

Today, April 6, 2009 was declared by the President as a Holiday to commemorate the "Araw ng Kagitingan" which supposed to be on April 9 because April 9 was already part of Holy Week, conidered as a religious holiday in our country.

Today was supposed to be a holiday but why don't I feel that it is. Maybe because I had to work today or the fact that I did almost nothing today but sleep. I went out earlier and the streets still look like a typical monday scene. The road is still crowded with vehicles and there are still a lot of people in the streets. Usually, during holidays, it is not crowded because people either stay at home or went early to the beach.

Maybe, I don't like its a holiday because I have already have a pre-determined mindset that Monday is the start of a week of work. It could be that I didn't adapt quickly to this holiday. Sometimes, we act unconsciously because there is already a preset activity that my mind is accustomed to doing every Monday. My waking habits on weekdays and weekends could be an example of this. I could wake up early during weekdays while I have to awakened during weekends or else I can sleep the whole morning.

Whatever, the reason may be, I think I have to prepare my mind for the coming holy week to experience it better.

Working on Weekends

I really don't like working on weekends or on holidays. When I work on those days, my mind is not on the job. I'm not as effective as I can be. This also goes with bringing work at home, I can't really focus on what I'm doing. For me, the office is place where I work and my home is the place where I relax.

Just this morning, I had to go to work to complete some task and just as I was about to go home, my boss informed me that I also have to work on Monday, which as recently declared as a holiday. It's not that I don't like working, it's just that I can't focus well during those times. My mind and body wants to relax but it has to work. That's why when I arrived home this afternoon after work, I slept for most of the after and woke up just in time for dinner.

Well, I can't get out of working on weekends or holidays because it is one of the constraints of being an employee, you have to do what you are tasked to do.

The Very Best I Can

If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for any other business. I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out all right, what is said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, then angels swearing I was right would make no difference.

My Computer is Back

I've just had my computer repaired by a friend of mine. It was infected by the jollibee virus and it slowly destroyed my operating system. It was only repaired by re-formatting. Who the heck created that virus? Maybe it's from Surigao as displayed in the start-up page.

We must all be careful with these viruses nowadays because most of them cannot be detected by the common anti-virus softwares available in the market. And most of them readily attach to the flash drives when inserted into an infected computer. That's how my computer was affected because my mother used her flash drive that was infected in her office computer.

Is there a way to prevent viruses or malicious scripts from entering our flash drives? I still haven't seen such a software for that purpose.
