Postponed yet again

We were supposed to go to a campsite in another and enjoy their facilities such as rappelling and zip-lines, however, it was indefinitely postponed due to the heavy rains and strong winds that our town is experiencing in the past three days. The weather is erratic. It would rain heavily for a couple of hours in the morning and after that a very humid weather.

I was kinda looking for that trip because it's that time again that I crave for some sort of adventure. Many people think that I am such a boring person because I live a quiet life but they don't realize that I am up for some adventure. I jump from high places to a pool or directly into the sea even if I'm afraid of heights or jump in the middle of the ocean and try to swim even if I'm not an adept swimmer. I like to try out adrenalin-pumping activities. I just hate the drinking of alcohol part that they do after or before that.

I don't need some chemical to motivate me to do something or to enjoy my life. I like a good conversation and a good meal, not some sort or filthy conversations that people do to make themselves noticed by their companions or mock other people. I do critique others, sometimes, even on a personal level but I don't exaggerate things just to malign them. I base my opinions on facts and experiences.

Well, I just hope that it goes through next month or made my friends and I can plan for some sort of vacation this summer.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday

The Start of the Lenten Season

In the Path of a Typhoon

It's raining constantly since this afternoon and even now while I'm writing this. Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds. Our town is near a typhoon and it's scary. As a result, the electricity isn't steady. It's been going on and off this evening. Also, the water supply is out. Such an irony, their is so much water outside but no water inside our house.

What is fear is the possible overflowing of the river near our home. Currently its now near the level of the road and as what we have experienced over a month ago, it could overflow and cause much damage in our community. We were just fortune to be located in a slightly elevated area in our subdivision by some of our neighbors were flooded during the last typhoon.

I just hope that this typhoon wouldn't cause much damage to property because most of the affected families i flood-prone areas are poor.

...Instead Pray

This literally translates as "Don't be noisy, instead pray".

I found this posted in hut that serves as the gazebo for future seminarians. It is a salient reminder that the students could find God in silence. In the chaotic world that we live in, people a afforded on a few minutes of silence and some people don't even want to experience that silence.

What are we afraid of? The silence or the thoughts that come in during those quiet times.

What Defines a Boring Life?

Just this week, I have been asked by a couple of persons about what I do after work. They deduced that I live a boring life because I don't usually go out just for the sake of going out. Some of them just want out of their home given the opportunity. Some would immediately join an invitation for a drinking spree without any hesitation. But I am different, I must have some reason or a purpose on why I should go out. I usually prefer to stay at home and do my stuff. I would usually go out on any occasion if I was invited by my trusted group of friends. I'm not really the type of guy who enjoy night outs.

Oftentimes, I found myself defending what I am because it is not one of the norms of society especially on the persons in my age group. I have been labeled as boring, loner and even an elitist because I don't usually mingle with all types of groups.

I have to stop defending myself. Let them judge me on what they think I am. Sometimes, saying nothing is necessary.

Hold Fast and Let Go

Here then is the first pole of life's paradoxical demands on us : Never be too busy for the wonder and the awe of life. Be reverent before each dawning day. Embrace each hour. Seize each golden minute.

Hold fast to life... but not so fast that you cannot let go. This is the second side of life's coin, the opposite side of this paradox : we must accept our losses, and learn how to let go.

It is Important to Believe

I saw this sticker posted in one of the wooden beams supporting a small hut and it struck me as a gentle reminder that with all the tribulations that's been going on in our life, it is important that we believe that the future has the possibility of becoming better. We have no control of what's ahead of us but we have to remember that it is still wide open for all possibilities. We'll just have to guide it to a positive light using His guidance.

Do You Take Me Seriously?

How would you know if a woman is considering you for a place in her heart? I've been bothered by this thought from day one. Do you take me seriously when I voice out my concerns for you or me wanting a moment of your time to express my feelings? A lot of questions that are yet to be answered. All I wanted was to know if I'm one of your choices. The end result that I want is not even considered yet.

I just don't want to be the person you think as a nuisance but can't express it to me for fear of losing someone. I'm just hoping for a hint of an answer to that question. I have to know. It was never an intention of mine to be thought of a bother to a person's life.

I would never force anyone to like me.

I want to be chosen, not just settled for.

If anyone of you know of any way for me to know this, your comments are welcome.

Examine Yours Conscience

I came across this phrase while I was reading an old Reader's Digest from my father's collection. This sign was actually posted in some hotel room way back in the 1970s. It's quite blunt but I like it.

People should have this posted at the the ceiling directly above their beds to serve as a reminder. I believe that at the end of each day, we should assess ourselves on what we have done during the day. Determine the things we have done right and the mistakes we have made, then try to improve from there.

After Almost Three Weeks...

Until now, we still don't have an internet connection at home. I can only occasionally use the internet here in the office if the connection will be available. Even the wi-fi connection here in the office is not consistent. For a person, like me who uses the internet at a daily basis, this situation is not acceptable and makes me angry at our service provider. I have called their office several times and they offer different reasons for the problem and even their technicians wouldn't visit our home to check out the problem. If only there is another service provider who could deliver internet connection here in our area. For the next few days, I will have to patient with it even if I don't have to.

So Glad to See You

My day was all right. No fuzz, no nothing. Just a regular working day. Then this afternoon you came along and I was glad. I missed you these past few days and I just didn't show that to you in the hopes that you might miss me too. You changed you look a little and it caught me by surprise. I hope that you will see how much you mean to me.

What's Up with The Internet Connection

The internet at home is out again for the past five days. What's up with that? I'm paying my monthly bills regularly but there is no internet connection. The bad thing about it is that I will still be charged with the same fixed monthly payment even if there is no connection for a couple of days. Some say that it is due to change of PhilCom management which is now bought by PLDT. With the change of personnel, simple repairs are not readily remedied because there are no personnel available in our city. They must contact their main branch to get people to repair minor problems. I hope that their service will improve because it is hassling their many consumers.
